Guiding you through the estate process each step of the way.
After an initial consultation, we customize a working plan based on the following steps.
Due Diligence
Working together, we carefully consider all relevant information by reviewing a list of items to ensure that all relevant information is considered before deciding or taking action.
As a CEA, we can also complete the services of a Commissioner of Oaths to witness Statutory Declarations or other documents required in the province of Alberta and by the Federal Government.
Explore & Research
If details are missing regarding an estate, the CEA will put on their private investigator hat to track down information on the estate. Exploring and researching missing elements of an estate can be a complex and time-consuming process.
Taking these steps is important to ensure that the estate is managed responsibly and efficiently and that all beneficiaries receive the assets to which they are entitled. Not every estate is wrapped up in a pretty bow with details easy to find, so we work at the estate, searching for assets, beneficiaries or important documents.
Evaluation of Assets
Once due diligence and, if necessary, exploration and research have been completed, the next step includes assessing assets of value and connecting with financial institutions, life insurance companies, pension plans, and additional governmental agencies.
As needed, we will contact real estate appraisers, art connoisseurs, professional downsizers, etc. Our CEA provides a second eye on all documentation and assists with evaluating dollar amounts for probate. The service is hands-on, and you receive timely check-ins as needed.
Legal Representative Support
Once the courts have done their part, we provide ongoing consultation to guide you through each legal step. This involves managing funds transfer to an estate account so expenses and debts can be settled, establishing trusts, and filing estate tax returns.
There will be a need for a professional to assist with the Tax returns, for this element of the Estate must be handled with expertise and knowledge.
Closing the Estate
After the financial requirements have been settled, we provide ongoing support to the estate in the final stages as the will is completely executed.
We provide solutions in each of these roles.
